What to Bring with You... and What to Leave
Welcome to the Bridgewater State University residential community. We are excited that you will be joining us this year! Packing for college can be a daunting task. You can use the list below as a guide to what to bring and what to leave at home.
Please note that all University provided furniture must remain in your room.
What to Pack:
- Pillows
- Pillowcases
- Sheets (twin extra-long)
- Blankets
- Comforter
- Mattress pad
- Towels
- Shower caddy
- Shower shoes
- Desk or bed lamp
- Laundry bag/basket
- Laundry hamper
- Laundry detergent
- Hangers
- Wastebasket
- Recycling bin
- Snacks
- Plates, bowls, cups, and utensils
- Dish detergent
- Fan
- Area rug (no larger than 6x9 & only 1 per room)
- Extension cords/surge protectors
- Alarm clock
- Under bed storage containers
- Microwave (no more than 1000 watts & only 1 per room)
- Refrigerator (no more than 3.2 cubic feet & only 1 per room)**
- Blender (1 per room)
- Coffee maker without hot plate (1 per room)
- TV
- DVD player
- Gaming system
- Safe for valuables
- Cleaning supplies, wet mop & broom
- Flashlight
- Water bottle
- Umbrella/rain boots
**Full-size refrigerators are provided in the Great Hill Student Apartments & Weygand Hall – Personal refrigerators are not allowed in those areas.
Prohibited Items:
- All cooking & food preparation devices (except for microwaves, coffee makers, and blenders)*
- Air conditioners
- Candles
- Incense burners
- Grills
- Space heaters
- Dartboards
- Firearms
- Knives
- Tobacco products
- Pets (except fish and those permitted under the Americans with Disabilities legislation)
- Bed risers, homemade loft/bunk beds, cinder blocks and other homemade loft apparatus
- Upholstered furniture
- Duct tape, nails, tacks, command strips etc. — any item that will mar the surface of the walls

*The following items are allowed in the kitchen area of the Great Hill Student Apartments: toaster, toaster oven, George Foreman type grill and rice cooker.
